Open Classes:
Heartwood offers yoga classes each week that can be attended by anyone interested, and these are appropriate for all levels. These classes are taught either in the Main Studio, the Lodge, or in the Yoga Pavilion depending on class size, weather and instructor's preference. We do have mats students can borrow, but it is advisable to bring your own mat.
Students can pay a drop-in rate of $22.00 per class or purchase a class package for discounted rates.
Updated class schedules and listings of teachers or other activities can be accessed by downloading our free app "Heartwood Retreat Center". You may use this to sign up in advance to guarantee a space or to get information.
Yoga Sessions:
We also offer class series in 5-week sessions for progressive learning. Students enroll in the entire 5 classes to participate and missed classes are forfeited. These classes are a bit longer than the drop in class (15 - 30 minutes) providing time to address a theme or subject matter that helps students learn yoga beyond just the asana class. Sessions are great for those who like to know what and who to expect in class with them from week to week (since the enrollment is consistent) and is great for those who want a little something more educationally than the traditional yoga mat experience.

Yin Yoga consists of passively held floor poses for 3-5 minutes each in an attempt to elongate and retrain the connective tissues of the joints, ligaments and joint capsules.
An excellent complimentary practice to other more active styles of yoga or activities, Yin Yoga promotes healing and space in the joints. It is excellent for runners, those with stiff or arthritic joints or those just hoping for a deep stretch and release in the hips, knees, ankles and shoulders.
In Yin yoga, meridian lines are pressured to release stagnant energy in the body for healing and mindfulness.

A restorative yoga sequence typically involves only five or six poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Held for 5 minutes or more, restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. This class gently restores the body and mind, with soothing poetry, aroma and gentle poses, a great way to re-set the nervous system and to honor and care for your body.

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a very dynamic and athletic form of yoga. Students follow a set sequence of postures each time, gradually progressing through the series. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga emphasizes the linking of movement and breath. This class will be for students looking to begin an ashtanga yoga practice.
